okay don’t get the wrong idea i KNOW dave shouldn’t stay in a relationship that he’s uncomfortable with

but the sad thing about this is it doesn’t sound like he attempted to talk to terezi about the fact that he was uncomfortable, and subverted any chance to resolve it with her

and that could be for many many reasons other than “he just didn’t care about her”

the most likely one being that maybe he just didn’t think he was good enough for her

think about it: he’s an incredibly insecure kid. it makes a lot of sense. it’s still very possible that he cares about her and it was never explicitly stated that he doesn’t

and i have a feeling that she cares about him, and would have made attempts to change the arrangement had he spoken up. you can’t read their interactions in act 5 and claim that she doesn’t care about him or vice versa

she was going through shit, she was distracted, and there’s plenty of reasons why she’d be more concerned with blackrom gratification for some time rather than redrom, and maybe she was preoccupied or blindsighted (haha no) about his feelings for that reason. maybe she took his lack of communication as a sign of him not caring about her.

but had he spoken up? or had she maybe just taken the time to exchange a few words?

things may have gone differently, or at least wouldn’t have ended so bitterly

if anything their break up reads as a failure of communication and a downfall spawned of their insecurities

just stop saying they don’t care
